Privacy policy

Misaal is a research tool for lawyers. This page says what we collect and why. Questions: misaal.law@gmail.com.
What we store
- Your searches. The text you search, your filters and the results are saved on our server, so results can open again from their link. They aren’t linked to your name, since there are no accounts. Don’t type client names or confidential facts into search.
- Server logs. Like most sites, our servers may record technical details such as IP address, browser and time, to keep the service running and stop abuse.
What we don’t store
- Drafts you check. Pasted text and uploaded Word or PDF files are read on our server to run the check. They aren’t saved.
- My matters. Matters, notes, diary entries and saved authorities stay in your own browser. We don’t receive them. If you clear your browser data, they’re gone, so download a backup.
Analytics
The app uses Mixpanel, a third-party analytics service, to see which features get used. It receives events such as “searched” along with counts and sizes, your screen type, where you came from, and your approximate location. It never receives your search text, draft text or notes.
This website doesn’t use analytics yet. If we add a tool such as Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity, we’ll list it here first.
Who handles your data
- Oracle Cloud hosts our backend, in its Mumbai region.
- Netlify hosts this website and the app’s pages.
- Mixpanel handles app analytics, as described above.
Your text isn’t sent to an outside AI service. We don’t sell your data.
Your choices
Write to us if you want a search you made removed, or have questions about your data. Send enough detail for us to find it, since searches aren’t linked to a name. You may also have rights under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and its date.
